A work of Evaristo Judicibus
Evaristo Judicibus was one of the main people behind the building of the theatre. An amateur actor, he was the nephew of the actor António Sousa Bastos, husband of the actress Palmira Bastos.
The theatre opened on 27 February 1921. It was built through public subscription, to a design by the architect Coelho da Silva.
